Preparing your iPad to be turned back into the District

Before you turn in your iPad to the district, you will want to perform the tasks below to make sure it is ready for disposal and that you are ready to receive your new iPad.

Remove your Passcode

Open the Settings app on your iPad and select General. Then look for where it says “Turn Passcode Off". Tap on that and when prompted to “Turn Off Passcode Lock”, tap Turn Off. Lastly, enter your passcode to complete the process.

Make a Backup of your Data (optional)

If you would like to have your new iPad be a mirror image of the iPad you are turning in, please follow this procedure.

Open the Settings app on your iPad and select iCloud. Then look for where it says “Backup”. Tap on that and on the next screen tap Back Up Now.

Note: Make sure you have at least 75% charge or plug your iPad into a power source. The backup process could take some time to complete. If you receive any errors indicating you do not have enough storage, please see a member of the Technology Team for assistance.

Sign out of iCloud

Open the Settings app on your iPad and select iCloud. Then swipe down and find the Sign Out button. Tap on that and when prompted to “Sign Out of iCloud”, tap Sign Out. Next, when prompted to “Turn Off Notes”, tap Delete. Lastly, when prompted to “Delete Account”, tap Delete from My iPad and then enter your iCloud password to compete the process.
